Why you are seeing this page

You are here because your professional contact details may be stored in JobSteward without you being a user of this service yourself.

JobSteward is a private tool with which individuals organise their own job search. Part of that is making a note of who they have spoken to during an application process. If one of these people has applied to your company or has been in contact with you, they may have stored your name and your business contact details in their private account – just as they would in a notebook or a spreadsheet.

We do not notify you individually, because we have neither verified contact details for doing so nor a legal basis for getting in touch for this purpose, and because such notification would involve disproportionate effort (Art. 14 Abs. 5 lit. b DSGVO). Instead, we make the information available to you here, publicly and without a sign-in.

1. Controller

Tim Straub
Mainzer Landstraße 385
60326 Frankfurt am Main
Deutschland

Email: support@job-steward.com

At present, no data protection officer is appointed.

2. Which data may be affected

  • first name and surname
  • business email address and business telephone number
  • position or function, and the company you are associated with
  • notes made by our user about the course of the contact, such as meeting dates and what was discussed
  • a link to the role or application concerned

3. Where the data comes from

Exclusively from what the respective user enters, based on their own contact with you, a job advertisement, an email signature or a publicly accessible source. We do not collect this data ourselves. We do not buy contact details, we do not enrich anything from external sources, and we do not search public directories.

4. Purpose and legal basis

Purpose: provision of the service we owe under the contract, that is, storing and displaying our users' notes on their own application situation.

Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO. Our legitimate interest is to enable people to organise their professional search.

Balancing of interests. We consider your interests to be safeguarded by the following measures:

  • Under our terms of use, only business contact details may be stored.
  • The data is visible only to the one person who entered it – it is technically unreachable for other users.
  • There is no enrichment from external sources, no merging across accounts, no profiling and no assessment of you as a person.
  • The data is not used for advertising purposes and not sold to third parties.
  • There is no automated decision-making within the meaning of Art. 22 DSGVO.
  • There is no publication; JobSteward is not a directory and not a public platform.

5. Recipients

The data is stored on systems in the European Union. For the technical provision of the service we use processors, among them companies established in the United States which contractually restrict the processing to data centres in the European Union; these are listed in full on our Sub-processors page.

AI assistants. Users on a paid plan can connect an AI assistant of their own to their account. The permission to transmit contact details as part of this is switched off by default and must be expressly activated in addition. If it is activated, your contact details may be transmitted to the provider of that assistant – for users in the European Economic Area, as a rule to Anthropic Ireland, Limited (Dublin, Ireland) or OpenAI Ireland Limited (Dublin, Ireland), each of which is an independent controller for this purpose.

6. Storage period

The data is deleted as soon as the user deletes it, deletes the associated record or deletes their account; where an account is deleted, it remains for up to 30 days in a blocked, unusable state and is then finally deleted. Data still contained in backups after that is overwritten within 30 days. We delete inactive accounts after 36 months.

At your request, we delete your data without undue delay (see section 7).

7. Your rights

You have the right, as against us, to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 DSGVO).

Right to object under Art. 21 DSGVO

You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to this processing. We will then no longer process your data, unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or unless the processing serves to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

How to reach us: write to us informally at support@job-steward.com and tell us the email address or telephone number under which you might be stored, along with your name. We will then search across accounts for these details, tell you the result, and delete any entries found if you wish.

We respond without undue delay, and at the latest within one month (Art. 12 Abs. 3 DSGVO). You incur no costs for your request.

Competent supervisory authority: Der Hessische Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, Postfach 3163, 65021 Wiesbaden, https://datenschutz.hessen.de. You may also contact the supervisory authority of your habitual residence or place of work.

8. Users' responsibility

Our terms of use oblige all users to store third-party data only in so far as they are entitled to do so, and to limit themselves to business contact details. They are themselves responsible for their own processing, in so far as it does not fall under Art. 2 Abs. 2 lit. c DSGVO as a purely personal activity.
